Gerard Salonga, Conductor

GERARD SALONGA is currently the music director of the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra in Manila, and is in his second season as assistant conductor of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
Born in Manila, he is a four-time winner of the Aliw award (live performance awards), and was twice awarded the Philstage prize for his work in musical theater.
In 2012 Gerard was named music director of the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra, a professional orchestra in Manila maintained by Philippine broadcast giant ABS-CBN. In 2016 Gerard was selected to be one of the assistant conductors of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.  In this capacity he has assisted and covered maestros such as Jaap van Zweden, Yu Long, Jun Märkl, and David Stern.
He has guest-conducted the HK Phil, Philippine Philharmonic, Shanghai Opera House Orchestra and Chorus, The Evergreen Symphony, Bangkok Symphony, Malaysian Philharmonic, Orchestra Victoria, and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.  His arrangements and orchestrations have been performed by the HK Phil, New York Pops, Cincinnati Pops, and the RTE Concert Orchestra.
This season includes his subscription debut with the Philippine Philharmonic, as well as return visits to the Malaysian Philharmonic and the Sydney Symphony.
